This exciting annual contest is open to any Author that has a short story to tell. Great prizes are given to the top three winners of each genre, including printed copies of the anthology, memberships, and cash prizes.

Entries are received from March 1, 2019 to July 31, 2019.  Winners are announced in October 2019.

The opportunity to win a slot for your Short Story into a collection is what inspires Breakfield and Burkey to submit. Knowing we can be part of a movement to help improve literacy as well as be shared with libraries all over Texas. This has us putting our best foot forward and trying to be a part of something that helps our community and allows people to explore our writing style. Thanks

A Great Marketing Tool for Authors

Some writers need to start off small and a short story is a great way to do it. The success of this contest is shown by the number of entries they receive each year. In addition, for an established author, by having a story your story in a book that is given away to a thousand plus libraries, it is great exposure that draws new readers to them. A great way to get exposure and help a nonprofit organization that is about reading.
